Flights to Bolivia

Bolivia boasts of being the 7th on the list of countries around the world with the most number of airports, thus making it easier for travellers to fly around when in Bolivia. The two major airports for entry are La Paz (LPB) and Santa Cruz (VVI), also the largest airport in Bolivia.

Few airlines actually offer direct flights to Bolivia, but one can get connecting flights passing through Chile, Peru and some other South American countries. For instance, Chile‘s national carrier LANChile makes regular flight to La Paz, as well as Argentina‘s Aerolineas Argentina and Brazil‘s Varig. Some other major airlines that have regular routes through Bolivia include British Airways, American Airlines, KLM, Aeroperu, Nippon Airways, Air France Canada and Iberia. Aerosur, Aerocon and Amaszonas recently merged to form UNABOLIVIA which services 103 national routes and brings tourists to the country from international routes such as the United States, Spain, Brazil and Argentina.

Apractical idea for visitors to Bolivia would be to check out the packages that some of the airlines offer. Most of them have combination packages that include the flight to Bolivia, a city tour and hotel accommodation. Aerosur (UNABOLIVIA) has travel packages which include roundtrip tickets to the best destinations in Bolivia. There is also the “One World Visit South America Pass”, a collaboration of eight airlines (Iberia, Aer Lingus, British Airways, Finnair, Qantas, Cathay Pacific, American Airlines and LAN) which allows travellers access to 10 South American countries and 34 major cities.
